CLASS CALENDAR 2015

With fall officially here, we have some exciting classes scheduled, several with fall, winter and holiday themes. We've had some requests for repeat classes.  If there is a particular class you are interested in please let us know and we'll certainly work on scheduling it again. To register for class and pay by credit card, please call the store at (248) 549-0633. PUMPKIN CARVING-IN-PROGRESS & A PUMPKIN PIE

Saturday, October 24,  10:30am - 4:30pm    $38

Enjoy a "pumpkin day" workshop using polymer clay:

First you will reproduce that nostalgic scene where, on newspaper, you create a jack-o-lantern from your pumpkin with the stringy pulp and seeds pulled out.  Add a small knife and it's so believable. 

Second, you will make a beautiful pumpkin pie for the kitchen or dining room in your dollhouse. The pie is decorated in the center with autumn leaves made from "pastry". Looks good enough to eat.

 

PINE CONE HOUSE WITH LED LIGHT

This newly designed fairy house was inspired by the mushroom houses in Charlevoix, MI.  Its cone shaped roof sits on a tree bark round house made using many natural materials including tree bark, moss and pine cone scales for roof shingles.  The removable roof sits on a round base covered with grass and earth.

 

NEEDLE FELT HOBBY HORSE

Join us in needle felting a toy hobby horse that would look adorable in your dollhouse nursery, under the dollhouse Christmas Tree or in Santa's sack.  The model hobby horse is 1:12 scale, standing 2-1/2 inches tall.  He is traditionally dark brown with a white star and chocolate mane.  Materials and patterns will be provided, including your choice of colors for the horse. No prior needle felt experience is required.      

 

ELECTRICAL WIRING LECTURE

Instructor: Vicky Sanfield

Students will get practice in using the copper foil tape method for wiring a dollhouse, while working on a sample board to take home for future reference.  Soldering, attaching lights and changing plugs will be included.

To further adorn your dollhouse for autumn, create a beautiful centerpiece using colorful fall leaves, berry sprigs. grapevine, nuts, fruits, etc.  A pumpkin is featured in the design. This design can be adapted to be used as a door decoration as well.

 

DRESSED VICTORIAN MANNEQUIN

Instructor: Agnes Miller

Fashion an elegantly dressed mannequin to display in your lady's dress shop, dollhouse bedroom or sewing room. The bodice and sleeves are made of lace with a bustle that overlaps the long skirt.  Both hand stitching and gluing are involved.  A satin rose and ribbon are included for the bustle. Additional embellishments are available for purchase.           

 

INTERIOR / EXTERIOR DOLLHOUSE FINISHING LECTURE

Instructor: Carole Sussex

Valuable information on ways to complete the interior and exterior of your dollhouse, Lecture covers clapboard siding, brick or stone work, wallpapering, carpeting, tile and wood floors.  Many helpful hints to finish your project step-by-step and save time.

 

HOLIDAY BAZAAR CART

Instructor: Heddy Worden 

Saturday, December 5,  10:30am - 4:30pm     $48   

This charming holiday cart can be customized for either Christmas or Hanukkah.  Basic building materials are provided, including the fabric canopy and side panels.  There will be some printables to cut outandmounta set of 4 mugs to hand paint.  Bring any garland, bows, wreaths and accessories you may have.  Of course the shop has all all kinds of Hanukkah and Christmas items including foods, religious objects and wrapped packages.  We will need to know by Tuesday, November 24th which holiday you have chosen for your cart.

Fall's Here! 

It's hard to believe that fall is here already and with it NATIONAL DOLLHOUSE AND MINIATURES MONTH during October. To celebrate we are offering a 10% discount, one time only, on your entire purchase until October 31st. Be sure to print the coupon to take advantage of this sale.  

Heading around the corner from October, Thanksgiving will come sooner than we think and you know what that means....holiday shopping!!!  The shop is stocked almost to the rafters and if we don't have what you're looking for we can usually get it within a few days. We also have acquired several new estate collections and many of those items will be out on the sales floor before the holidays.  

Do a room box with a summer theme - we are stocked with accessories:

Picnics -  baskets, tables with benches, bar-b-que grills, hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, utensils, pop (beer and wine for the grown-ups) watermelon and of course, ice. Don't forget the sparklers, fireworks and American Flag. 

Swimming - flip flops, beach balls, sand castles, scuba sets, shovels and pails. 

Boating - anchors, life preserver rings, ships wheel, propeller, water skis and a captain's hat for the skipper.

Backyards - flowers and shrubs for the garden, lawn mowers and assorted gardening tools, watering cans, trellises, planters, patio material, fencing and furniture.  There are "mini" books of all kinds, many are printed throughout - look for your favorites to set on a lounge chair or table. Have a "mini" glass of iced tea or lemonade available. 

Whatever your imagination conjures up - with a wide range of fun miniatures available, the possibilities are endless!

Through the Looking Glass, Millie's Beautiful Beds and Millie's Old-Fashioned Quilts, Fun with FIMO, Irish Cottage plans and many more to choose from.  We have current issues of Dollhouse Miniature, American Miniaturist and Dollhouse Collector magazines along with out of print miniatures magazines with lots of ideas and projects to do. You can "travel" anywhere in the world and never leave your backyard  

How about a "mini" day trip?

The Midwest Miniatures Museum in Hickory Corners, MI is a delight to see. There are amazing miniatures on display in 1/12th to 1/144th scale with attention to every detail. As an added bonus the museum sits on the sprawling property of the Gilmore Car Museum.  Among many automobile related buildings there is even a vintage diner where you can relax and have a nice lunch or cold drink. Another added bonus - enjoy the Michigan fall color along the way.
